I can't adhere to the standards.

Writing in a college-level English class is bullshit (but not difficult at all for those who are curious). Adhering to strict MLA guidelines is difficult and restricts writing ability and neglects the need for emphasis. I am unable to italicize certain word, of my choosing, that I wish to emphasize. In MLA formatting, I am free to write about topics of my choosing but not how to write about them.

It is sad to say that my writing will not be emphasized and therefore will not be understood as it is meant to be. Should it not be at the discretion of the writer to write as he or she chooses?

I'm referring to an essay that I'm writing for this class. When I am finished, I will publish it as it was meant to be written: with emphasis.
